Founder Teun van Gammeren first presented Quasar internationally at Euroluce in Milan in 1992. The early collection focused on cast metal lighting designs in three characteristic finishes: raw aluminium, polished aluminium and bronze. While the portfolio has evolved significantly over the years, the underlying philosophy remains intact. Quasar continues to offer a wide range of finishes, ensuring that each luminaire can be adapted to different interior concepts without losing its distinctive identity.
A major growth driver has been the collaboration with renowned Dutch and international designers. Their contributions have continuously expanded the collection’s creative range and strengthened Quasar’s global reputation. Today, under the leadership of Teun’s sons Arjens and John, the company remains committed to its founding principles while actively pushing design boundaries.
At an early stage, Quasar made a deliberate strategic decision: instead of separating products into multiple collections, the company unified its portfolio. The idea was simple yet powerful — if every design is strong enough on its own, it does not need categorical separation.
