The term ‘Quasar’ – simply defined – means ‘a rising star’

The pCon.catalog is a versatile platform for presenting 3D product and material data. Manufacturers can provide furniture, accessories, architectural elements and — especially relevant for lighting — materials and finishes in a way that allows direct integration into real planning scenarios. For interior designers and architects, this means access to realistic models that support detailed space planning and compelling visual presentations. Beyond functionality, the emotional impact of products becomes tangible early in the design process.

With Quasar Holland, we welcome a brand whose name already hints at its trajectory. A “quasar” — a rising star — perfectly reflects the company’s development from a family business into an internationally recognised lighting manufacturer.

Founder Teun van Gammeren first presented Quasar internationally at Euroluce in Milan in 1992. The early collection focused on cast metal lighting designs in three characteristic finishes: raw aluminium, polished aluminium and bronze. Each finish was carefully aligned with a specific design ambience — classic, timeless or modern.

While the portfolio has evolved significantly over the years, the underlying philosophy remains intact. Quasar continues to offer a wide range of finishes, ensuring that each luminaire can be adapted to different interior concepts without losing its distinctive identity.

A major growth driver has been the collaboration with renowned Dutch and international designers. Their contributions have continuously expanded the collection’s creative range and strengthened Quasar’s global reputation. Today, under the leadership of Teun’s sons Arjens and John, the company remains committed to its founding principles while actively pushing design boundaries.

At an early stage, Quasar made a deliberate strategic decision: instead of separating products into multiple collections, the company unified its portfolio. The idea was simple yet powerful — if every design is strong enough on its own, it does not need categorical separation.

This approach still defines the brand today. Each luminaire is conceived as an individual statement piece: unique, timeless and immediately recognisable as a Quasar design. In addition, the company has established itself as a bespoke lighting specialist, enabling clients to tailor many designs precisely to their project requirements.

With exports accounting for around 85% of turnover, Quasar has built a solid position in the international high-end lighting market and continues to expand its creative footprint.

In the pCon.catalog, planners can currently access nearly 100 Quasar luminaires. The downloadable portfolio includes the categories:

  • Floor lamps
  • Suspension luminaires

In total, 27 product families are available, complete with detailed product information such as designer credits and dimensional specifications. This ensures that planning is not only visually convincing but also technically reliable.
